TSS Presents Friday Freestyle Report #06 'More Bars, More Battles"

Charlie Clips delivers a proper Harlem battle style that is heavy with gun bars and punchlines on his latest visit to Funk Flex. His previous appearance on Hot 97 has over 2.5 million views. DNA accompanies Clips to the session which has me anticipating a new DNA freestyle forthcoming from the platform soon.

URL battle rap legend and gun bar king Tay Roc touches down on the 'No Ghostwriter' freestyle with creative, aggressive bars that paint a grimey drug related story for those on the inside looking out.

Big L is regarded as one of the greatest to ever rap and is often considered by many to be the very best to ever do it. Together he and Jay Z recorded the '7 Minute Freestyle' on the Stretch & Bobbito show. The following is an extended version featuring commentary from Big L and Jay Z that is not found on the seven minute version. This is Jay Z in his prime in tandem with arguably the best emcee to ever exist.

Stretch and Bobbito shows are archives for hip hop. The most important names from the most impressive era of the culture are all here. The mighty Mobb Deep spit bars that would eventually become classic hip hop quotable's after the release of their album 'The Infamous'. I got my first copy of 'The Infamous' on cassette in 1995 and have kept this album in my regular rotation ever since. After listening to Mobb Deep for more than half my life I got to meet Prodigy before Mobb Deep's performance in Dallas shortly before his death. I also got the opportunity to photograph the Mobb during the same show. Shout out to Jen and Miami Mitch for the hook up on that night. The photos following this freestyle are by me and from that show.

Fat Joe is a guy who has been putting in respectable work for years with the most respected names to ever rap, dj, or produce. Stretch and Bobbito had everyone you didn't know was going to be a legend on their platform. This freestyle features Fat Joe in session with Big Pun, Armageddon, and Keith Nut. All are members of the Terror Sqaud.

If you're familiar with recording artist from Queens Bridge housing projects then you are no stranger to Cormega. On this installment of Stretch and Bobbito the artist who made Mitchell and Ness a thing spits east coast hardcore over classic east coast production.

Battles

Battles I'll be watching this week.

Peace.

Friday Freestyle Report 04 Bars and Blunts

The cats over at 'Bars On I-95' have come through two weeks in a row with exceptional female talent. Ms. Hustle runs with the baton Lady Luck passed off last week as A.B. and Cease continue curating what will one day be a legendary list of freestyle performances. Ms.Hustle is hard and brings to the table an aggressiveness that is not present in a lot of male emcees. Ms Hustle is right at home on the home of the heavy spitters. I would have liked to hear a little bit more from her.   'Bars On I-95'...Thank you for this one. This one impressed with instant classic status. Other female emcees would be wise to take a lot of notes here. Any emcee in general could learn something here. Now I'm wondering if the rest of that Fred The Godson will be better than this. I don't think it will be. This is Lady London spitting all bars and no bullshit on 'Bars On I-95' home of the heavy talkers and she fit right in. I didn't know Lady London would be t...

So you want to be a Dj?

Even today in 2018 it still seems like everyone wants to be a dj. Some truly want to study the craft and become part of the culture while a large portion of these alleged knowledge seekers are infatuated with money, fame and potential affection from women with poor judgement in men and bad taste in music. But for those who truly seek the path to higher levels of turntable enlightenment Rob Swift and his Brolic Army are here for you.     In 2014 Swift began teaching a course called 'Dj Skills & Styles' as a professor at the New School for Liberal Arts in New York City. During the course students use turntables and vinyl to learn the fundamentals of mixing, scratching and beat juggling. With only twelve student per class each semester you are damn near getting one on one time with one of the most respected and experienced turntablist on the planet. If you are like me and desire to battle then this right here might be exactly what you are look...
